Artist Statement
Kirsten Lofgren’s work is inspired by her childhood growing up in the secluded and magical Appalachian mountains and the world expansion that came with moving across the country. Her work investigates place-making and perceptions of the natural world. She considers how we build relationships with the land around us and the way changes in time and place shift our understanding of those connections. Her work explores the parallel realities of the physical world and places that exist only in memory.
